“Verso Nikà” for piano, electronics, sound sculptures and shell horn, Flückiger explores the theme of migration. The music was composed for the project “Verso Nikà”. Esther Flückiger organized and performed the World Premiere jointly with the artists Karin Eggers and Susana Talayero in the summer of 2018 on the island of Pantelleria.
Flückiger’s music is a multidimensional journey of sound that reflects the current tragic reality of migration between two continents in many dimensions. Spoken texts by Toni Maraini intersect with the music. In a subtle mix of electronic music and the intimate sound of her piano, Flückiger symbolically illustrates the complex connection between the outside and inside world of migrating people in need, thereby expressing her main intention:
“The streams of refugees of recent years force us to look at what is happening around us and to show it to others. By all means, we must highlight events that are forgotten all too easily in everyday life. With this performance we want to keep the interest in the life stories of these people alive.“
Esther Flückiger is a unique artist in the field of electronic music. With “Verso Nikà” she explores new boundaries and also sets an important social signal.
PIANOVERSAL releases two album in 20219 with music by Esther Flückiger, marking the 60th birthday of the Swiss artist.
The solo performance album «Verso Nikà», released in summer 2019, and «LUMINESCENCE» are also available as a double CD published by PIANOVERSAL in an artist limited edition.
