The titles on this CD are not intended to document the historical diversity of Italian or Swiss composers. Rather, I thought it would be more stimulating to present the diversity of styles and musical languages on the basis of seven works for piano, so that listeners can answer the question for themselves: “What is contemporary music today? These compositions offer a synthesis of the classical music tradition and the structures of contemporary avant-garde music and demonstrate in a very comprehensive way the possibilities of the piano, which in some pieces becomes a transformed instrument, you hear percussion, voices and other surprises coming from the belly of the piano and also through the use of pedals.
